Korea Wholesale Market : Dongdaemun Shopping Complex & Accessories Shop at Garosugil.

We have a chance to visit the biggest wholesale market in Korea, which is Dongdaemun Shopping Complex, located around Dongdaemun area. I’m excited and eager to see how was the wholesale market in Korea would be like, since in Thailand wholesale market is pretty big, and you can find pretty much everything in Thailand from Fabric, Accessories, to Clothes.

I’d say that this place was pretty much the same with the one in Thailand wholesale market. however, they have more interesting and appealing choice of accessories. At first, as a group we went to the floor where they showcase some fabrics this including Korean traditional fabric, Cotton fabrics mix with Nylon, since most of the shop closed down on Saturday, so we cant really see much products in terms of fabrics. But what I really interested would be accessories shop. They have wide ranges of accessories, with the one that already made or charms where you can buy as retail / wholesale. Since I didn’t bought anything from there so I can’t really tell if the quality is nice or not but I’d say the price still moderate compare with what they sells on tabao or alibaba (ranges from 0.7 cent - 2 sgd). The pearls hair clip on the left photo is pricing around 3,000 (1pcs) - 6,000 (4 pcs) won in retail, which still consider around 3-6 dollar sgd, which is a little bit expensive in my opinion. What a shame that I couldn’t take many pictures since most of them are very stricter and not allowed.

In addition, I spotted a very cool made to order / handmade shoe shop in Garosugil. It’s very cool and made form real leather like calfskin made in Korea. Most of all I really like the design, its very unique, cute and has wide ranges of colours. And this brand is actually active on their instagram, so it’d be pretty nice to promote this brand in Thailand as well.

As my aim to open multi-labels store, I really need to be active on what’s products that would suitable to Thai’s market, especially millennials. So I visited few accessories shop that is handmade or made in Korea, which I collected few name cards from them. In case I’d like to contact to buy wholesale and re-sell it in Thailand. I find that being merchandiser you need to have an eye on products you want to put in your brand that is the most crucial. More than that, I spotted one nice store layout accessories shop at Garosugil, I found that there’re quite few people in the store. I’d say that the store layout and how they display products is what captured attention me the most. When I look into product closely, it’s only just as normal / and most of them probably bought from alibaba or taobao, which they sells the same products in many store in Korea. It makes me realised that only just a white clean furniture with luxurious mirrors, really changes how your products looks, and make customer perceived your products as value as its store decoration.
