As a workshop class for Future Fashion Project, we as a class have chance to volunteer for Ecobank to curate the donated items and sold at the EcoBank Bazaar. The annual EcoBank initiative includes Fashion 3R with collaborate programme by City Developments, Limited, Eco-Business, The Fashion Pulpit and the Raffles College of Higher Education to spread awareness about sustainable fashion and the true cost of consumption. Fashion 3R, which will run as part of the annual EcoBank Bazaar, will feature a series of fashion-related events and workshops, including an up cycling workshop and an exhibition on 1-3 March at City Industrial Building, 71 Tannery Lane, Singapore 347807. From all the donation and income from Bazaar will be proceeded to Arc Children’s Centre to aid children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Unsold goods will be donated to the Embodhi Foundation to benefit low-income women in Sri Lanka,India and Vietnam.
As a class we help Ecobank to sort out donations. We basically, open every single cartons and consolidate them into one category, which divided into 1.Adults Clothes 2.Kids Clothes 3.Shoes 4.Toys and Others. This experience is something that I’m grateful to do as it help’s someone’s life without gain any benefit back. It makes me realised how many people suffer from inadequate money to even buy clothes or poor children who needs money for hospitalised. During sort out we have to divide into tutorial group, as we need to sort out the garments and styling it for look book. So, during the sort out we also separate garments for the styling photoshoot and we pick the final one after decided it as a group.
For the final, we selected 3 women outfits, the first one is on the left which is the red floral dress, the second one is the white t-shirt with spaghetti black shirt and blue skirt with prints and the third one is white off shoulder, with orange suits and culottes black pant. Our style is more into sophisticated and contemporary look. As a group, we decided to do photoshoot by using my Thai’s friend as model.
There’re overall of more than 10 groups from Bachelor students from International Fashion Business whom participates in EcoBank styling. As all the photoshoot will be finalise in LookBook done by design team. The lookbook will be showcase during the bazaar day, and all the International Fashion Business senior student help out with the event day. As we separate the roles as merchandiser, stylists, walk around the bazaar, and help to manage the clothes into same colour ranges, help out with customer, and pricing products.
Over all experience was pleasant as we do volunteer as a class, and we help out each other. I’d say our class team work is very good and being part as volunteer for Ecobank was memorable.
