Today, I’m going to talk about my one day experience as promoter at bundies since last month (30th July 2018). It starting with I received the email from my Raffles college as they mentioned “Local brand Bundies is looking for brand promoters. $50 a day travel and food.” Ooh, sounds good isn’t it? Even if I haven’t heard about the brand “Bundies” or what exactly do I need to do, but when it comes to money I couldn’t reject XD. Nevertheless, since in this semester I have some times to do my works during my 4 days off / week. So I think it’s a productive activity which I can substitute my lazy day off. Then quickly get in to the point that I sent them my resume & interview to Bundies, and I was acceptable to work there for the whole 1 day!

Let me briefly explain to you that Bundies is a Singapore men’s underwear brand, that was launched in January 2018 by 2 co-founder; Wauter Muis and Bank Visscher. Bundies made of the finest sustainably sourced materials and for a price that is fair for everyone. Through comfort and convenience, they want to inspire men from all walks of life to be comfortable in their own skin (bundiesabout.com, 2018). Bundies launched 3 weeks pop-up store at Takashimaya Men’s department (from July to Aug) and they looked for promoters to be able to volunteer for 1 whole day or more to help them as merchandiser at pop up.

After I went through all the interview and short training process with Wauter Muis and The sales staffs from Takashimaya. One day before the event I‘m fully prepared myself by reading through all the document that sent by Wauter. The document included brand’s history, products description, guide line on how to sells products, how to write the bills, and time schedule during the day. I practiced on how to talk with customer, and ensure that I understand all the products description. Wauter was really nice and very responsive with all the emails and willing to clarify us on what tasks to do. During the day I was at event, I was excited and looking forward to break the highest sales!. Since I be able to get the Universal Studio free tickets XD. However, I took over the pop up store on Monday and it’s pretty quiet there. There’re small crowd during morning and early afternoon but since then there’s no customer afterwards. So I got a bit bored, but thankfully to the guy next door! Wilbert who is the promoter for a unisex T-shirt right next to Bundies. He’s pretty nice and helpful, since both Wauter and Bank were not there so I got him to help me with small problems such as cashier, and be able to talk with him and exchanged some experiences. Working at Takashimaya seems pretty easy and relaxed from when you see but in fact it’s not. You need to be very disciplined with the department’s rules, and standing whole day is actually painful (or maybe I need to get the right shoe!).

Thanks to my hard work, I sold for 7 pieces at the of the day and I’m very satisfied :D. I would say that it’s been a not so much fantastic experiences but I got to meet new people in Takashimaya department and improve my communication & merchandising skills which I’m very grateful!.
